latest from the board of governors
The board didn’t approve the sale of the franchise to Andlauer because the paperwork has not been completed. The transaction also needs approval from the NHL’s executive committee before it can be brought to the full board.
Andlauer, who will have to sell his share in the Habs, one of several moves he needs to make before taking on his new role as the club’s owner, spent the Tuesday in Ottawa. The Senators are about to enter a busy stretch in preparation for training camp in September. The belief is that Andlauer was given an update on the business/marketing side of the operation, while Dorion went through his off-season priorities for the roster.
That means Dorion has to do what’s best for the organization and try to trade DeBrincat as soon as possible. The club applied for arbitration so it can try to get a 15-per-cent discount on his $9-million contract for next season. The move also allows Dorion to control the process.
