Trying to put on a good show with prospective owner Ryan Reynolds in the house, the Senators dropped their sixth straight with a 6\u002D4 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Coming off a 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday at home, the Senators have spent a lot of time trying to find answers to their inconsistency. All coach D.J. Smith wanted his team to do was get playing up to its capabilities and with more desperation in some situations.
“You can look back at the first 11 games and the points we’ve kind of lost because we haven’t made the right decisions in the last two minutes of a period or three-to-four minutes of a game. That’s something for me that has piled up. We’ve shown a lot of maturity in games and we need to so that going forward to start grabbing some points.”
Boeser scored his first of the season at the end of a Vancouver power play at 8:18 to extend the Canucks’ lead to two goals. If not for the play of Martin, this one isn’t even close as the Senators outshot the Canucks 33-16 through the first two periods. That was a good response because Horvat had scored his 11th of the season only 15 seconds earlier and there may have been some in the building who were wondering if the Senators would be able to bounce back. Those late goals can be a backbreaker.Article content
