The National Capital Commission is willing to wait to get a deal in place to build a new home for the Ottawa Senators at LeBreton Flats.
“One important step that was taken over the last couple of days was that the Senators’ team asked for an extension of the due diligence period. We had originally contemplated 12 months with the opportunity for an extension. We, of course, agreed.
Nussbaum spoke with Andlauer when he was among seven groups that came to Ottawa before final bids were made May 15.“I met with Mr. Andlauer as part of the process back in the spring and he strikes me as someone who is going to be very, very positive for the team. We’re looking forward to discussing with his team in the context of the MOU that we have,” Nussbaum said.
“There is an opportunity for us to explore that flexibility in the context of the discussions of the MOU towards a lease agreement.”“I don’t know if 6.3 or 6.9 acres is enough,” Bettman said. “It struck me as being a little small. Because you want to do things around the arena, you need parking, you want to make sure you build an arena big enough to have all the loading docks and TV hookups that make a building really accessible.
