Josh Norris took a step in the right direction on the road to recovery.
Activate your Online Access NowWhether he’ll suit up Friday against the Winnipeg Jets at home remains to be seen, but the decision by the medical staff to allow Norris to take contact is a sign that his recovery from the minor ailment he suffered is headed in the right direction.
Norris was able to participate in all the drills while wearing the non-contact jersey and was trying to take a few bumps along the way. This move means he’s close to suiting up for a pre-season game and that’s important with the start of the season set for Oct. 11 against the Carolina Hurricanes. Though the Senators remain confident they’ll be able to resolve the situation with Pinto soon because he doesn’t have a lot of leverage, the likes of Ridly Greig and Roby Jarventie are trying to take advantage of the opportunity to get more of a chance to showcase themselves as a result.
“Roby Jarventie at centre has done a really good job. He’s put up some points and he looked really good in the rookie games,” Smith said. “Both of those guys are getting lots of repetitions.“At some point we’re going to need them, whether it’s at the start or the middle, those are guys that are going to play here. Whether it’s this year, next year or whatever. Those guys are getting lots of reps and they’ve both looked really good.
