This creeping plant can be tricky to kill off but it is not an impossible task, according to one gardening expert.
A gardening expert has revealed "truly the best way" to remove climbing ivy from your fences and walls and keep it from coming back.
Brittany Bailey, a gardening and DIY expert from Pretty Handy Girl, has revealed the "absolute easiest" way to rid your garden of ivy and prevent it from coming back. According to Brittany, this "gearing up" is important as ivy can be a shelter for pests like rodents and spiders - so it is better to just protect yourself as much as you can.
Make sure not to completely pull the ivy off as it can damage the surface it is attached to. Brittany said: "Resist the urge to pull the vines off because it can damage the bark. Once the ivy dies the greenery will turn brown and will eventually fall off." Brittany said: "If you want to go natural, you can use one gallon of white vinegar mixed with a teaspoon of dish soap, just be very careful not to get this mixture on any plants or trees you want to keep."
