'Their thick, chewy slabs are a great alternative to the typical North American-style pizzas ubiquitous in the city and you can feel a little more socially conscious about your dinner,' Gabby Peyton writes in a review of Crust Craft Bakery.
, which opened in August 2022, is part of Choices for Youth and employs youth between 16 and 29 who have experienced barriers getting into the workforce for a variety of reasons like addiction, homelessness or education. Like other social enterprise restaurants in the city, all the revenue goes right back into CFY’S programming in some way.
The cleverly named Coppa Cabana pizza is Crust Craft Bakery + Pizzeria’s take on Hawaiian pizza topped with coppa ham, pineapple, roasted red peppers and olives. - Gabby Peyton The first time I tried Crust, I opted to pre-order dinner online. Their online ordering system was easy to navigate and I appreciate being able to pre-order, so I can include delicious pizza in my weekly meal planning.
Most of the expected topping combinations make an appearance on Crust’s menu like cheese and pepperoni and veggie lovers, but Crust has a couple of interesting takes as well: The Bullwinkle has a Donair sauce base and is topped with fennel moose sausage, caramelized onions and tomatoes. We opted for one of the extra toppers — the hot honey drizzle , but, sadly, it either was forgotten or so little was used we didn’t get much of that sweet heat we were hoping for. But it didn’t prevent us from enjoying the well-balanced flavours of the pizza.
