Posey of the All Nations Worship Assembly will give the eulogy. Lewis is to be cremated.
Around 2 a.m. on Aug. 30, multiple officers went to Lewis' apartment in the 3200 block of Sullivant Avenue on the city's Hilltop to arrest him on multiple warrants, including a felony charge of improper handling of a firearm, a misdemeanor probation violation and misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and assault for an incident Aug. 10 involving his pregnant girlfriend, court records show.
However, Officer Ricky Anderson, a 30-year veteran of the city Division of Police who was the dog's handler, leashed the dog, a move a K-9 expert told The Dispatch was sound because unleashing the dog would likely result in the suspect being bitten and would be an unnecessary use of force.
