A Bergen County funeral home is seeking help from the public locating the family of a 92-year-old woman who died last month at a nursing home.
Initially, Booker wasn’t concerned about payment. He said the nursing supervisor seemed genuinely concerned about making sure Polimeni was properly laid to rest. He agreed, and told the supervisor to wait until he had drawn up a contract.Rhoades allegedly told Booker that since Polimeni had only been in the nursing home for 12 days, they weren’t going to pay for anything, according to Booker.
Rhoades declined to comment when contacted on Wednesday, referring questions to a CareOne spokesperson who did not immediately return calls. Public records show Polimeni lived in the retirement community since at least September 2000. The housing manager said in all that time, Polimeni never had a visit from a relative, Booker said.Booker said Polimeni either fell or became ill while at home and was transported to CareOne for rehabilitation or other treatment.“We called Medicaid and were told she never qualified,” Booker said. “She must have had a fund or something paying CareOne and her other expenses.
