What can I expect in Glasgow during the UCI Cycling World Championships?
An official fan zone will be set up in George Square and Glasgow is to host eight of the 13 championships at five venues. Several operational and event management hubs will also be set up. As a result, parking restrictions on the routes will come into force on Monday, July 31, and stay in place until Sunday, August 13.Road closures will come into effect from 00.01am on Friday, August 4 until 11.59pm on Tuesday, August 8 and then again from 00.01am on Saturday, August 12 until 11.59pm on Sunday, August 13.How are businesses in the city entre affected?
For businesses located in the city centre, an access and egress plan has been developed to allow them to service their premises during the period of the road closures.Some of the closed roads will be opened up from 8pm to 6am on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday August 5,6,7,8 and Saturday, August 12, to allow entry.Businesses, residents and visitors are being encouraged to use public transport including rail and subway networks and active travel routes on these days.
