The government has announced a crackdown on vaping, but Brits heading abroad this summer need to be aware that many countries have even harsher penalties for e-cig users
As the UK government tightens regulations on the sale and use of vaping products, British holidaymakers need to be aware that many overseas destinations are adopting even stricter rules. Globally, an increasing number of countries are imposing hefty fines, and in some cases, even jail time for those who break the rules.
However, with penalties reaching up to £2,000 in certain popular holiday spots, and the threat of imprisonment in places like Australia, it's vital that Brits planning their summer holidays familiarise themselves with the changing laws before they travel. For instance, Turkey has effectively banned the sale of vape kits and e-liquids, as none have been successfully licensed. However, you are permitted to use your own equipment, provided you don't do so indoors, reports the Express.
France is taking a formidable approach against single-use e-cigarettes with its parliament voting with one voice for a ban. Pending government and EU approval, the prohibition could come into force by September 2024.
