Event can be done virtually or in person this upcoming weekend
. The event, with the tagline, ‘shine a little extra light into the world with Angie PB’, can be found on raceroster.com and will be held on Jan. 7 and 8.
“Lavinia asked if I would be interested in doing a 5 km with her on New Year's Eve or Day, if we could sort out the logistics. I said, ‘why not’?’” Carreau said their initial talk really was about them just getting together and her pushing her friend in her wheelchair for a 5 km stroll around thetrack. The more she thought about it though, she felt it was a good opportunity to make it into a bit of a fundraiser.
Parker-Brown and Carreau will do their walk at the RECC during a more intimate event with family and close friends while the community can do their's virtually, as the title suggests, or join members of theclub on Jan. 7 at the TAAC Grounds to do the 5 km as a run, jog, walk, or even a snowshoe trek if the conditions accommodate. The Lions encourage people to gather for a 10 a.m. start.
People can register and get involved by going to the Race Roster website and in the event search box, type in Full Capacity Sparkle Virtual 5 km. It includes the option to contribute/donate even if you will not have the opportunity to do a 5 km walk, jog or run.
