KUALA TERENGGANU: A food trader was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here on Thursday (Nov 24) with committing mischief on a bus that was carrying Selangor FC players and officials after the second semi-final match of the Malaysia Cup last Monday (Nov 21).

He was charged with committing mischief on a property belonging to Syarikat E-Mutiara, causing losses of RM15,000, in the compound of Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium here at 12.05 am last Nov 22.

The charge was framed under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which provides imprisonment for up to five years, or fine, or both if found guilty.Prosecuting officer Inspector Khairi Mohamed Noor prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. Meanwhile, the police have obtained an order to remand five men, aged between 24 and 37, to facilitate investigation of the same case.According to Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa, the five men were arrested in an operation conducted between 11am and 8pm on Wednesday .

In the incident, a group of fans was said to have hurled stones at the Selangor team bus when it was leaving the venue, smashing its windows. - Bernama
