Smart? Blatantly hypocritical more like it. After spending the last year railing against the provincial Liberals’ “fiscal mismanagement” and the federal Liberals’ carbon tax, this budget looks to be an implicit endorsement of Liberal policies. Wynne was driving Ontario off a fiscal cliff by driving up the debt? Ford proposes to add almost $40 billion more to it over the next five years. The debt can't be too onerous then.

He proposes to balance the budget in large part by increasing spending less than inflation with a record $160 billion in program spending this year. I guess the Liberals weren't that wasteful after all. Trudeau's carbon tax will drive Ontario into recession? The budget assumes a 1.4% growth rate this year and 1.6% the next."Looking ahead, the Ontario economy is expected to continue to grow steadily over the 2019 to 2024 period." - Budget doc.
