Heartbreakingly, the cricket legend's wife Rachael rushed to the hospital in Surrey from their home in Cheshire to be told the true extent of his injuries and to "expect the worst". His teenage son Corey later admitted he was "lucky to be alive" following the terrifying ordeal. On Tuesday night he will be back in a presenting role for the first time since the incident, as his Field of Dreams series returns on BBC One. The series will see Flintoff's cricket club for teenage boys in Preston head to India, with the England legend opening up on his own life-changing experience.
He had visible scars on his face and tape on his nose and wore a bucket-style hat along with sunglasses during fielding drills with the players.
