Paramount+'s Frasier reboot removes the exact thing that made Kelsey Grammer's snooty therapist so beloved in Cheers and the original show.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary The Frasier reboot takes away the one thing that makes Kelsey Grammer's character work in Cheers and its original spin-off. As a belated addition to Cheers, Frasier Crane wasn't supposed to be a series regular. Instead, he was initially going to appear in the hit sitcom for a few episodes as a foil to Sam and Diane's romance. On paper, Frasier isn't really a likable character.
Throughout episode 3, Olivia has been either manipulating or blindsiding Frasier to benefit herself. Stroking Frasier's ego is not the best way to handle his concerns. None of his family and friends in Cheers and the original Frasier lied to him about something this important. Instead, like Alan, they always put things into perspective, which allowed Frasier to better deal with the struggles he had in his life.
Frasier’s Harvard Story Drags The Reboot Down The original Frasier was pitched as a family comedy, effectively separating it from Cheers, which was a workplace show. The people behind the Paramount+ reboot seem to understand this as evidenced by the carefully crafted dynamic between Frasier and Freddy. The death of Martin and David being Niles' son adds to the elements of the show.
