Paramount+'s Frasier reboot fixes one of the biggest misses from the generally-liked Seattle-based series' finale in its very first episode.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary The Frasier reboot pilot already makes up for one of the biggest character mistakes in the original series finale. 19 years ago, Frasier Crane decided to leave Seattle and pursue his romantic feelings for Charlotte in Chicago. As NBC staged the finale for the Emmy record-holder for the most wins for a comedy series, there was a lot of pressure to deliver a satisfying send-off.
Seattle served Frasier well. Aside from the fact that it gave him the chance to reconnect with his father, Martin Crane, and brother, Niles Crane, it also provided him with an interesting job. For more than a decade, Frasier hosted his own radio show at KACL. As someone who grew bored with practicing privately, being a radiotherapist allowed him to have a broader reach, not to mention establish a public persona. Working at the radio station also paved the way for him to meet new people.
19 years after "Goodnight, Seattle," the revival makes up for that big lapse by offering a short but much-needed update about Bulldog. In the Frasier reboot pilot, "The Good Father," Frasier and his grown-up son, Freddy, finally have a heart-to-heart talk after avoiding engaging in a serious conversation since the elder Crane arrived in Boston.
The bit doesn't really delve into Bulldog's involvement, but the mere mention of his name and the confirmation that he played a part in Martin's send-off is a great way to honor the character. While the Frasier reboot catches up with fans on what its titular character has been up to in the last two decades, it's only fitting it also provides an update on what his former Seattle crew has been doing.
Why Wasn't Bulldog In Frasier's Finale? Bulldog played a consistent part in Frasier's KACL life in its first few seasons. He would often barge in the booth after "The Frasier Crane Show" wrapped up with his paraphernalia because "Gonzo Sports Show" followed for the time slot. After getting fired from the radio show, however, he only appeared sporadically, mostly in relation to his ties to Roz.
