The Fox Waterway Agency is busy clearing channels of sediment and removing debris in preparation for what could be a challenging and busy 2022 boating season on the Chain O’ Lakes.
Reports of supply-and-demand issues from local marinas and retail outlets selling watercraft, coupled with rising fuel costs, will impact activities as people seek a return to normalcy after pandemic lockdowns.
Another indication of economic change comes from reports that businesses on the Chain O’ Lakes are unable to meet the needs of seasonal customers with large-ticket watercraft items or providing mechanical services. “People calling now are more price-conscious,” he said. “It’s not about having the work done correctly. We have enough mechanical work already, so we’re not taking more.”
