Fox News' Chris Wallace tests negative for COVID-19 after moderating the first debate

Fox News' Chris Wallace has tested negative for COVID-19, six days after he moderated the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, and a four days after it was revealed the president had tested positive for the novel coronavirus.host was seated several feet away from Trump for the 90-minute debate. Former Vice President Joe Biden has repeatedly tested negative since the debate.

Wallace's negative test comes as the White House and the Republican Party continue to grapple with a worsening outbreak of the virus amongst their ranks. Early Friday morning, Trump revealed by a tweet that both he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19. In dramatic scenes, the president was whisked to Walter Reed Medical Center by helicopter later on Friday, with reports that he was given oxygen. On Monday, the president returned to the White House.

In addition to the president and the first lady, several White House staffers including aide Hope Hicks, campaign manager Bill Stepien, Trump's body man Nicholas Luna, RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, former advisor Kellyanne Conway and Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, as well as former Gov. Chris Christie, Republican Senators Mike Lee, Ron Johnson and Thom Tillis have all tested positive for COVID-19 in the last week.

A Rose Garden ceremony to celebrate the Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett on Sept. 26, that all of those that have tested positive attended, has been speculated as a potential coronavirus"superspreader" event.
