BOOM Four-star 2023 defensive lineman Jason Moore commits to Ohio State, giving the Buckeyes a top-55 prospect.
Moore committed to the Buckeyes Sunday evening, giving Ohio State its 18th commit total and its second defensive lineman commitment in the 2023 cycle alongside, a three-star Ohio defensive tackle. More — no pun intended — defensive line commitments could be on the way for Ohio State later this month as well, as the Buckeyes have been on a torrid pace this summer landing various commitments.
With Moore's commitment, the Buckeyes have also re-taken the lead from Notre Dame for the No. 1 overall spot in 247Sports' national recruiting rankings for 2023. Momentum began to shift toward the Buckeyes shortly after Moore took his official visit to Columbus June 24-26, where Johnson sold Moore on his developmental plan at Ohio State. Moore also took official visits to Notre Dame, Penn State, Maryland and Michigan this summer.
Ohio State first offered Moore in January, then hosted him on an unofficial visit on April 16 when he attended the Buckeyes’ spring game. By landing Moore, OSU has acquired a prospect that is capable of playing either defensive tackle or defensive end and brings the versatile skillset Johnson hopes to find in at least one prospect per cycle.
Ohio State’s newest commit attends DeMatha Catholic High School , the same high school some guy you may have heard of named Chase Young attended. In his junior season, Moore racked up 13 sacks.
