Experts have investigated the areas of the UK with the most pet-friendly beaches and four Scottish regions are included in the top 10 — perfect for a summer day out.
New research has revealed the UK’s top 10 most pet-friendly coastal regions and four are found in Scotland.
If you have a dog, it's also a great opportunity to take them for a stunning waterside walk. View gallery According to the research, the region of Scotland with the highest percentage of pet-friendly beaches — and fourth highest in the UK — is Lothian in the south of the country, with 83.33 per cent. Among the most beautiful spots in the area where you can take your furry friend are Cramond Beach in Edinburgh, Belhaven Beach in Dunbar, and Canty Bay in East Lothian.
This week's top Scotland Now stories The final two Scottish areas to appear in the top 10, at number seven and number nine respectively, are the Shetland Islands and Highland. The former includes gorgeous pet-friendly beaches such as Levenwick Beach and St Ninians, while the latter is home to stunning bays like Brora Beach and Thurso Bay.
