Lamar CISD’s Huckman named 2023 Grand Champion at Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Art Show
Courtesy of Lamar CISDAfter earning Reserve Grand Champion status at the 2022 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo School Art competition, Huckman upped her entry this year and earned the Grand Champion title, according to Lamar CISD. The announcement was made during a ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 11, at NRG Center.
Her painting — “Our Last Round Up” — was ranked No. 1 out of 72 auction lots and 4,500 artwork pieces entered from school districts from across Southeast Texas. Last year’s Grand Champion artist was Gracin Nguyen of Pearland ISD. Her colored drawing “In His Hands” produced a Grand Champion rodeo record price of $250,000.
