. The department has not yet detailed the circumstances leading up to the shooting as family members call for accountability. Police previously said the officer and arson investigator were part of a team handling fireworks calls the night of the Fourth of July. Police said they were responding to a call about 12:30 p.m. when they saw an “active altercation” near Ross Avenue and Northwest 32nd Street.Officials said the two officers engaged two armed men. Both officers fired their handguns and both men were shot.
