A passenger was shot in the head on East Loop 820 in Fort Worth early Monday.
Around 4 a.m., officers responded to the northbound lanes of East Loop 820 South service road near Grayson Street, police said in a news release. The driver told police he and the victim were traveling northbound when they heard gunfire from a nearby vehicle. He tried to get away from the other vehicle by taking the East Berry off-ramp, but struck a road sign and fence before the car stopped just north of Grayson street, according to police.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition, the release said. The driver was also being treated at a hospital for injuries he sustained during the collision.
The department’s gang unit is investigating the shooting. No suspects were in custody as of hours after the incident.
