Fort Bend Christian Academy junior Whitney Childs earned a silver medal in the 100-yard butterfly and took sixth in the 100-yard backstroke at the TAPPS state swimming championships.Fort Bend Christian Academy and Logos Prep Academy were recognized on TAPPS all-state lists as the organization honored standouts in basketball, soccer and swimming.
Junior Whitney Childs took home silver with a 1:00.51 in the 100 fly, adding a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. The FBCA girls finished eighth as a team, scoring in all three relays including a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Senior Madison Dunn led the girls with an all-state honorable mention, averaging 7.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.6 steals and 0.8 blocks per game. Senior Angel Nwodu, juniors Brooke McAnulty and Evyn Carpenter, senior Oluwadaara Akinpelu, and sophomores Ella Olson and Gracie Peschel earned all-district honors.
The top individual competitors were sophomores Haley Bourgeois and Everett Cox, and senior Courtney Goolsby, all earning state medals. Bourgeois won bronze in both the girls 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle , while Cox was the silver medalist in the boys 100 free and placed fourth in the 200 free.
