Trauma survivors reunite with first responders at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center
Northwest Community Health paramedics Aida Garcia, left, and Ismael Gonzalez laugh as Alexander Baas jokes as he recounts his journey as he continues to recover from his motorcycle accident during an inaugural trauma survivors celebration at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in The Woodlands. The event brought together former trauma patients with the hospital staff and other emergency workers who save their lives.
After months of struggling to gain traction, Bradshaw said it was satisfying to see support for trauma patients and the people who cared for them. Both Baas and his mother thanked first responders for taking him to Memorial Hermann's Level II trauma center. "Never forget that. You save people," Gannon said."I know you hear it all the time, but you save people's lives."
The group also helps them talk to people who relate to them as they continue through life. Baas got on a motorcycle for the first time since his accident three weeks ago and felt an overwhelming mix of emotions. Neumann, who just got a new motorcycle herself, understood and messaged him.
