A former Vancouver police officer who was convicted of sexually assaulting a colleague in Whistler in 2019 is being sued for damages.

In November 2019, Jagraj Roger Berar, 51, was charged with one count of sexually assaulting the female complainant, who is only identified by the initials C.W. in the notice of civil claim filed in B.C. In the early morning hours of July 15, 2019, she, Berar and two of the plaintiff’s acquaintances went to the defendant Berar’s suite at the Pan Pacific Mountainside hotel to continue drinking and socializing. “After taking a sip of the drink, the plaintiff experienced a near instantaneous onset of nausea, and retreated to the bathroom to vomit.”

While she was unconscious, she says the defendant committed several sexual acts on her and claims the acts were done without her consent.
