PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Skaters at the Greater Pensacola Figure Skating Club are getting some help from a high-powered mentor.
Almost the entire NBC 15 neighborhood is under a slight risk of severe weather. We could see up to 2 inches of rain. She's a naval flight officer in training at NAS Pensacola, who just happens to be a former synchronized figure skater.
She went from representing her country in international competition, to serving her country as a future Naval flight officer. She made the unexpected transition when COVID derailed her plans to be a full-time coach. For Kristen Gaubert, who's now skating solo but wants to compete in ice dancing, Casey's help is building a new skill set.
Casey understands the young skaters' dreams, and joins them at the rink whenever her busy training schedule permits. She remembers what it felt like when she was one of them.
