Former South Africa n Reserve Bank Governor Tito Mboweni has passed away in hospital after a short illness. President Cyril Ramaphosa hailed Mboweni as a true leader and compatriot, expressing deep sadness over his passing at the age of 65. Mboweni's death comes weeks after another former finance minister, Malusi Gigaba, also died. The president praised Mboweni's contributions as an activist, economic policy innovator, and champion of labour rights.
