A former SAPS officer was sentenced in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court for plotting firearm theft and endangering public safety.

Former police official and member of SAPS Protection and Security Services in Bloemfontein, Noxolo Perseverance Job , has been sentenced to four years' direct imprisonment for conspiracy to commit robbery and contravening the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000.

Bloemfontein Courant reports the sentencing was handed down in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Job, a former constable responsible for static security at national key points and VIP residences in the Free State, arranged in October 2019 for firearms to be stolen from a safe at the PSS offices, according to Hawks spokesperson Zweli Mohobeleli.Mohobeleli adds the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation detectives uncovered Job’s plans. “She was arrested on October 8, 2019, during a mock transaction. On July 30, 2024, the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court found the accused guilty.

Free State head of the Hawks Major General Mokgadi Bokaba welcomes Job's removal from the service and society. “She was a danger to her colleagues and society at large. These firearms would have been used to rob, rape, and kill, had they landed in the wrong hands,” she adds.
