The car flipped multiple times before coming to rest on the driver’s side. He said that is when he pulled over, called 911, and then went to help the woman.
Oklahoma halfback Marcus Dupree hoists a sign of victory and carries the ball across the goal line, scoring a touchdown, during first quarter action with Texas in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday, Oct. 9, 1982. Marcus Dupree was a bad man in high school and in college, too, with the Oklahoma Sooners, and if not for injuries you probably could have said that about his professional football career, too.
But, off the field, the 57-year-old former star running back appears to be a pretty, good guy. And he made headlines for being a good Samaritan this week when he helped free a woman from a nasty wreck following a high-speed crash., when Dupree was traveling back from Norman to Tulsa for a charity NFL Draft event following the Sooners’ Red-White spring football game.
Dupree said that a woman went around him in the fast lane on the Turner Turnpike before clipping the rear of an 18-wheeler.According to Dupree, the car flipped multiple times before coming to rest on the driver’s side. He said that is when he pulled over, called 911, and then went to help the woman. He said that was a tough job, but he did eventually free here before firefighters arrived on the scene.
“I just think that’s what we’re supposed to do as human beings, is stop,” Dupree said. “Nobody really stopped.” Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
