Matt Harvey, a former All-Star pitcher for the New York Mets, announced his official retirement from baseball on Friday.
Tommy John surgery in October 2013 kept Harvey out for the entire 2014 season. He returned in 2015 and was part of a Mets team that won the NL pennant before falling to the Kansas City Royals in the World Series.
Harvey played in New York until May 2018, when he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds. From there, Harvey’s MLB journey included stops with the , Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles. His final MLB start came on Sept. 8, 2021, with the Orioles.For his career, Harvey had a 50-66 record, 4.42 ERA and 867 strikeouts.
