Former Malaysian PM Muhyiddin claims trial to four counts of abuse of power, money laundering
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malaysian prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin on Friday has claimed trial and pleaded not guilty to four counts of abuse of power to obtain RM232.5 million for his political party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia .
Muhyiddin, 76, was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission at 1pm on Thursday after he was summoned to give his statement in connection to the Jana Wibawa programme. Separately, another man had been charged for accusing the MACC of offering RM10 million to Wan Saiful to implicate Muhyiddin in the Jana Wibawa case.following its investigations into the party’s bank accounts.Last month, Malaysia’s International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz was summoned by MACC to help with investigations into the Jana Wibawa programme.
