Orr’s style as a player was unmistakable. He was part of the Leafs era under Brian Burke, and the GM made it clear how he expected Orr and others to play.“We require, as a team, proper levels of pugnacity, testosterone, truculence, and belligerence,” Burke said in his introductory news conference. He joined the ownership group of the Danbury Colonials of the North American 3 Hockey League in 2019, before being named head coach of the Whale the same year. And he can thank former Rangers teammate Paul Mara, now the the coach of the“I knew he’d be perfect for the job,” Mara said. “We talk a lot and he was my best friend in the Ranger days. We didn’t talk once a day, we talked twice and more. I just have a lot of respect for Colton and he’s done a great job in Connecticut.
“Paul told me about the league and all the great things that are going on in it,” Orr said. “He said, ‘Here’s a great opportunity to get into coaching,’ And I had always wanted to get into coaching and help younger athletes get better, and use the experiences from my career to help them with their careers.
