New dashcam video shows the moments a semi-truck barrels down Main Street in Tooele on Nov. 3, 2023. “Trucker’s offices are the interstate highway so there is no one who is more concerned about truckers’ safety or highway safety than truckers,” OOIDA Executive Vice President Lewie Pugh said.

“We train pilots, and we train most other people in other industries on what to do and how to handle things when they go wrong, the problem in trucking is we don’t do that,” Pugh said.“All you got to do to become a truck driver is to pass a test, and that is pretty scary,” he said.2News reporter Emma Riley asked Pugh if there was something truck drivers could do to stop the truck if this happens.

“He's coming into town, he's probably riding his brakes a little more than he should have,” Roland said.Roberts said that load can weigh 130,000 pounds.Roland said he agrees there needs to be more experienced drivers and stronger training regulations.
