A former police officer, who was released on a warning following her arrest in connection with the gang rape of eight women at the West Village mine dump in Krugersdorp in July, had allegedly guaranteed safety for the film crew and the women
.
According to a police officer close to the investigation, Truter allegedly assured the women and film crew that the location was not dangerous and that security was not needed.She was the paid coordinator of the film crew, and they seem to have relied on her word that the place was safe. Under normal circumstances, a film crew would have hired security for the duration of the shoot.Police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed that the arrest was of a former police officer.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that Truter was released on warning.
