A former Methodist church is going up for auction, with a guide price of just £145,000. The place of worship includes the main chapel, an assembly hall, classroom and ancillary space.
The site is on a corner plot in Nottingham Road, Ilkeston, and comprises of two buildings. According to SDL Auctions, it has the potential for 'alternative uses or redevelopment, subject to obtaining the necessary planning consents'. A spokesperson for SDL said:"The property comprises two buildings with a central link. The eastern section of the property is the main Chapel, which is believed to have been constructed in or around 1959. To the northwest of the site is the Sunday School, which was constructed in 1883.
"The Sunday School is of traditional brick construction with no cavity and is rendered externally under a pitched slate tile clad roof comprising a hall with stage, classroom, kitchen, storage, and ancillary space. "The central lobby has hardwood-framed double-glazed entrance doors, and accommodates a reception area, secondary kitchen, storeroom, accessible WC, and ladies and gents WCs. The Chapel is open-plan with UPVC-framed double glazed windows at high level, part-exposed brick walls, and an eaves height of 6.3m."
