He was jailed for over six years in 2019 after admitting a series of abuse crimes against teenage boys dating as far back as 1972.

McCafferty was jailed for six years and nine months in 2019 at Edinburgh High Court after admitting a series of abuse crimes against teenage boys dating as far back as 1972. During the trial, he admitted 10 charges of indecent assault and one of lewd and libidinous behaviour against boys aged as young as 11.
