Former Cape Breton Eagle defenceman Adam McCormick. JEREMY FRASER/CAPE BRETON POST.SYDNEY, N.S. — A pair of former Cape Breton Eagles players claimed a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2023 FISU Winter World University Games in Lake Placid, N.Y. on Sunday.

Defenceman Adam McCormick and forward Tyler Hylland were among the championship team who downed the United States 7-2 in the final. McCormick had a goal and an assist in the final, while Hylland had three goals in the overall tournament. Canada finished in sixth place in the overall medal standings with 13 medals: six gold, one silver and six bronze.
