Huw Edwards has pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children. The former BBC News presenter appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court today. The veteran broadcaster admitted having 41 on WhatsApp, including seven of the most serious type. The court heard the offences were committed between December 2020 and August 2021.
Edwards stood in the dock as Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring addressed him on his bail conditions. Edwards appeared nervous, fidgeting with his hands, before confirming that he understood the conditions. He then left the courtroom. The hearing lasted 26 minutes in total. Speaking in Edwards’ defence, his barrister Philip Evans KC said: “There’s no suggestion in this case that Mr Edwards has… in the traditional sense of the word, created any image of any sort.
