Brett Lee has fronted television just hours after he tried to perform CPR on colleague and friend Dean Jones, describing him as an “absolute legend”.
Coach Justin Langer said: “What a great player and a great bloke. We are shocked and very sad to hear of his passing.
Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting said on Twitter: “Heartbroken to hear of Dean Jones’ passing. He was someone I looked up to and emulated growing up, and then I was lucky to become close friends with him later on. ODI and T20 captain Aaron Finch said: “Still in shock hearing the news of Deano’s passing. Thoughts are with Jane and the family at this incredibly tough time. A great man with an amazing passion for the game.”
Former Australian star and coach Darren Lehmann shared: “Dean Jones will be missed, he taught me so much on and off the ground, I and all of the cricketing world will miss him. Our thoughts are with Jane and the family at this time, lots of love from the lehmanns xx.”“Dean Jones was a hero to a generation of cricketers and will forever be remembered as a legend of this great game,” Eddings said.
