Jacob Khawe, previously accused of domestic abuse and former ANC's secretary in Gauteng, has been appointed as the chair of the Community Schemes ombud. The appointment comes despite his controversial past and recent losses in the ANC leadership.
Jacob Khawe , previously accused of domestic abuse and previously serving as ANC’s secretary in Gauteng , has been appointed as the chair of the Community Schemes ombud. The Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) was established under the Community Schemes Service Act 9 of 2011 to regulate the conduct of parties within community schemes and ensure their good governance.
CSOS is responsible for regulating, monitoring, and ensuring quality assurance in scheme governance documentation, developing and providing dispute resolution services, and providing access to scheme governance documentation. In 2022, Khawe lost his bid to be re-elected as ANC secretary in Gauteng to former music executive Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza and was not included in the Gauteng provincial executive committee.
