Justin Eboigbe joined the Los Angeles Chargers in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Alabama defensive lineman Justin Eboigbe runs through a drill at the NFL Scouting Combine on Feb. 29, 2024, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. All drafted players receive four-year contracts. The values of those contracts are based on the pick number, the NFL’s salary cap of $255.4 million for the 2024 season and this year’s rookie compensation pool in a formula spelled out in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the league and its players association.
The two interior linemen who took the most snaps with the Chargers’ defense in 2023 are no longer with the team. Austin Johnson signed with the Buffalo Bills in NFL free agency, and Sebastian Joseph-Day was waived by Los Angeles after starting the first 14 games last season. The Chargers have nine defensive linemen on their offseason roster. A former Seattle Seahawks starter, Poona Ford came aboard in free agency after playing in eight games with the Bills last season. Morgan Fox played 38 percent of Los Angeles’ defensive snaps in 2023, Scott Matlock 23 percent and Otito Ogbonnia 19 percent. Of the other five defensive lineman, Christopher Hinton is the only one who has appeared in an NFL regular-season game with seven over the past two seasons.
