Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Ontario's Progressive Conservative government of dragging its feet on vital infrastructure spending and says the indecision endangers work for the summer construction season.
Trudeau criticized Premier Doug Ford's government during a funding announcement at a tech hub in Kitchener, Ont. on Tuesday, saying the provincial Tories are refusing to work with his federal Liberals.
Trudeau's comments mark the latest flare-up in the increasingly acrimonious relationship between the provincial and federal governments, which has seen both sides trade barbs on issues ranging from carbon pricing to immigration. Ontario is expected to be a key battleground in the federal election slated to take place this fall.
"There has to be responsibility with the federal government," Ford said. "Last time I checked, they have a lot of members where these subways are going."
