The largest of the two recalls impacts 2013 through 2018 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKX midsize cars which involves a problem with brake hoses. According to documents posted Friday, the hoses can rupture leading to brake fluid leaking. If that happens, it could increase brake pedal travel and make stopping distances longer.
Ford says it is aware of one crash as a result of the problem, but did not say if there were any injuries caused by it. An estimated 1.3 million cars will be recalled for that problem, and owners of affected vehicles will be notified via letter on April 17. They will then receive a second letter once the part is available to make the fix.The other recall affects 220,000 F-150 trucks from the 2021 model year.
