Hanging Judge | For FVS sake –is this what is now going to replace VAR?
What is this going to do that the video assistant referee, VAR, couldn’t, or wouldn’t do in the first place? It seems that there is a growing realisation among the soccer politicians that the VAR mechanism is not working and is soon to be replaced by the FVS mechanism.The Swedish Football Association recently decided that they would abolish the VAR system for the start of their 2024/25 season.
I have to say I thought that the VAR would work and that it would be the answer to all the prayers of many soccer lovers, and that finally, we would get correct and just decisions.For many years, there have been complaints from all and sundry about refereeing mistakes and blunders. Some sort of resolution was needed to ensure that justice was not only done but seen to be done.
I have mentioned many, many times that there is nothing wrong with the system, it’s the people operating it. That’s where the real problem is, that’s where the fault lies, if there is a fault. As I said, this is speculation and gossip, and I would hope that all the match officials involved in the game are on the same wavelength to officiate the game in a fair, unbiased, and professional way.
