The new sports bar is named after the famous Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro

Lohan Munhoz de Oliveira, who has previously played in the Brazilian top flight, is the co-owner and co-founder of Maracanã Sport Bar in the city centre. Maracanã first opened last year as a restaurant but Lohan has now decided to relaunch the venue as a sports bar.

Lohan Munhoz told the ECHO: "I played professionally for 17 years. My debut was with Athletico in the Brazilian premier league, and later on I played in Israel and the Dubai premier league for seven years, making a move to the Brazilian championship, then later on played in countries such as Germany, France, Greece and Latvia, where I went on to meet met my wife and both of my kids were born.

He says Maracanã Sport Bar, named after the iconic home of Brazilian football in Rio de Janeiro, will offer a place for people who want to watch a sporting event or enjoy some casual dining. Food on the menu includes Brazilian chicken coxinha, rump steak with cassava and "pastel" pastries with a variety of savoury and sweet fillings.
