Hugh and Diane Cunningham returned home to find a mountain of tyres on their driveway.
Shameless flytippers dumped dozens of used tyres on an elderly couple's property - and the pensioners were told to clear the rubber rings themselves after council bosses refused to move them.
But the authority refused to assist them in clearing the pile of tyres as it was on "private land". The council did, however, launch an investigation into the incident, The Mirror reports. "How degrading of the environment. It's a blemish on the land. I hope they never do this again and don't do this to anybody else."
Speaking about flytipping and littering, she added: "It's all different kinds, we see refrigerators, building supplies, and also just people with Costa cups and bags who obviously just chuck them out the window."
