The amount wagered across all of Flutter’s sports betting brands more than tripled.
The rise in betting popularity on women’s sports also played a major role in the growth of Olympic wagering, accounting for 24% of the entire FanDuel handle. Team USA led all countries with 126 total medals for the eighth consecutive Olympics. The Americans also tied China with 40 gold medals. “For two full weeks, sports, human achievement, and nail-biting competition are the biggest stories in the world providing Flutter a platform to engage customers, both new and old, in new sports and products which has a halo effect thereafter,” Simon O’Shea, Flutter’s head of in-house global sports trading, said.With more than 30 sports and 320 individual events in Flutter’s wagering catalog during the Olympics, bettors had plenty of options.
