Siyahleba | Floyd relegated to tablecloth fixer role as Zuma settles into that of tinpot dictator
Floyd Shivambu, once the EFF’s deputy leader, joined Jacob Zuma ’s party and got a dose of reality as he shuffled around like a labourer at a press conference before Zuma arrived. He’s gone from top dog to tablecloth fixer – quite humbling. After Thursday’s announcement, he’s now the national organiser, expected to be central to the think tank of the party with no manifesto.
And, to no surprise, he emphasised that there would be no party conference, effectively allowing him to continue appointing and removing people at will. When EFF leader Julius Malema sounded rattled at not only the defection of his deputy to the MKP, but information coming out that he had effectively forced him out, he moaned about fellow leaders not defending him.
The most colourful defence came from one of his biggest cheerleaders, spokesperson Sixolise Gcilishe, who vowed: People could be murdering him and spectators would ask why is he dying. It is necessary for us to stand with him because the world wants him isolated and alone. It will never happen.”Who we choose to trust can have a profound impact on our lives.
