Floor caves in at Jersey Shore wedding, but guests escape injury

The 200 wedding guests were evacuated from Daymark in Barnegat Light on Saturday.

None of the 200 guests attending a wedding on Long Beach Island were injured last weekend when the floor of a restaurant and bar caved in, officials said.

“The floor did not collapse, but caved in resulting in the structure being unsafe,” Barnegat Light Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 said. The fire company credited a disc jockey working at the wedding with helping to get the wedding-goers safely evacuated from Daymark on Broadway in Barnegat Light. “The DJ did an excellent job of announcing to all patrons to safely exit the building after hearing the rumble noise,” the fire company said.
